Step by step
How it works, once each half-term
Your data lead puts the figures in. You read one page, decide with your senior team, and next half-term you see whether it worked.
- 1
After each half-term
Put the figures in
Type them into a simple form, one box per figure, or upload a Bromcom export with names removed. No link to Bromcom is needed.
- 2
Same day
Read the summary
One page for SLT, starting with three things to know this half-term. It shows what each option could mean in days in school, pupils reached and staff hours, each with a confidence rating. Download it as a Word SLT pack.

SLT meeting
Agree and lock in
Agree the priorities, lock in the forecast and carry the targets into your school development plan. Then put the plan in your calendar: pick your term dates and SLT meeting slot, and download the steps for Outlook, Google Calendar or Apple Calendar.
- 4
Next half-term
See if it was right
New figures go in and each check shows in range, better than expected or worse, ready for your next round of self-evaluation.
The first time: getting set up
You don't need to be good with technology. It's easiest with your data or MIS lead sitting next to you.
- A
Open the invitation
You get an email invitation to your school's page. Click the link and sign in with your own account. Bookmark the page so you can find it again.
- B
Follow the guided setup
A setup window opens by itself and asks a few questions, one screen at a time: your school and area, the year group you're starting with, and how strong local pressures are.
- C
Agree who puts the figures in
Each half-term someone types the figures into a short form: attendance, persistent absence, reading, numeracy and behaviour for the year group, and for groups such as eFSM pupils. It can be you or your data lead.
Who does what
| Person | Each half-term | Needs to be good with technology? |
|---|---|---|
| Headteacher | Reads the one page, chairs the decisions in the SLT meeting, and saves them for the team | No |
| Data or MIS lead | Types the half-term's figures into the form, or uploads a Bromcom export with names removed | Only to find the figures |
| Senior team | Reads the briefing and agrees decisions in the meeting | No |
| Governors | Receive a plain-language report each term: where the year group is, what leaders decided, and questions to ask | No |
Try it with your school
